Cork leather is harvested from the bark of the cork oak tree (Quercus suber), native to the Mediterranean. What makes this process so unique is its gentleness: every nine years, the outer bark is carefully stripped by hand, leaving the tree intact and unharmed. No trees are cut down. No forests are cleared. Instead, the tree continues to live and regenerate — stronger each time.

In fact, once harvested, a cork oak becomes even more powerful in its role against climate change. A stripped cork tree can absorb up to five times more carbon dioxide, making cork forests some of the planet’s most efficient natural carbon sinks.
