Why Cork?
Cork leather is one of nature’s most remarkable materials — sustainable, innovative, and naturally beautiful.
Harvested from the bark of the cork oak tree (Quercus suber), cork is collected every NINE years without cutting down the tree. The bark regenerates naturally, allowing the tree to continue growing while protecting Mediterranean forests and ecosystems.
Beyond its environmental story, cork leather offers exceptional functional qualities. It is naturally lightweight, water-resistant, durable, and easy to clean. Its structure is also antibacterial and hypoallergenic, making it a hygienic and practical material for everyday use.
Because no animals are involved in the process, cork leather is also vegan and cruelty-free, offering an ethical alternative to traditional leather.

The name The Nine Years reflects the natural rhythm behind one of our most important materials: cork.
Cork is harvested from cork oak trees without harming the tree itself. After each harvest, the bark slowly regenerates — a process that takes approximately nine years before it can be harvested again.
This natural cycle represents patience, respect for nature, and thoughtful use of resources.
Inspired by this rhythm, The Nine Years embraces a slower approach to design and production. Rather than following fast fashion or excessive manufacturing, we focus on creating pieces that are carefully crafted, responsibly sourced, and designed to last.
